Health Sciences is the newest industry to be recognized as vital to Delaware's economy. This newest created cluster represents a broad spectrum of the industry and includes traditional healthcare service providers, diagnostic and analytical equipment manufacturers, technology products and services, and medical device and instrumentation firms.

Delaware offers unique competitive advantages to its health sciences firms, including a streamlined regulatory process, proximity to complementary businesses and prospects, and strong industry investment in research and development. More than 20 industry leaders have joined forces to define the cluster and identify target companies.

In Fiscal Year 2006, this dynamic industry represented 45,227 jobs in Delaware, and contributed more than $3.1 billion to Delaware's economy.
