ABOUT THE
KIRKWOOD ARMY RESERVE CENTER CLOSING
Note: The public outreach period ended at 5:00 p.m., September 8, 2006.
Secretary of Defense has recommended the closing of the Major Robert Kirkwood United States Army Reserve Center and its organizational maintenance shop in Newark, DE, and re-locate units to a new Armed Forces Reserve Center and organizational maintenance support facility.
This recommendation transforms Reserve Component facilities in the State of Delaware. The implementation of this recommendation will enhance military value, improve homeland defense capability, greatly improve training and deployment capability, create significant efficiencies and cost savings, and is consistent with the Army's force structure plans and Army transformational objectives.
As a result, the Delaware Redevelopment Authority (DRA) is conducting public outreach regarding the future use of the US Army Reserve Center on Kirkwood Highway. For specific information regarding the closure of the Major Robert Kirkwood United States Army Reserve Center and the role of Delaware Redevelopment Authority, please contact:
