Delaware Reuse Guide: Officers' Message
Welcome!
We are pleased to offer the Delaware Reuse Guide for Businesses and Consumers. The purpose of this Guide is to add reuse to the well-known practice of recycling. Whether you're interested in buying secondhand clothing, having your computer repaired or learning more about where to donate things you no longer want, you'll find a wealth of information in this guide.
Buying, renting and repairing reusable products has a big impact on limiting the amount of material we dispose of in Delaware. The more we reuse, the less we waste. In addition, Delaware has a thriving reuse economy employing over 4,400 people in 900 businesses. Reuse businesses and organizations are in fact a growing sector of our economy.
This publication is part of a larger initiative in our state called The Green Industries Initiative which is a joint effort between the Delaware Economic Development Office and the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control. It is our belief as we head into the 21st Century, that environmental management will succeed because it provides new opportunities for business development and innovation. The Green Industries Initiative is dedicated to supporting this link between business and the environment. To find out more,
go to http://www.state.de.us/initiatives/greenind/greenind.htm on the Internet.
We encourage you to read this guide. In fact, we hope you will reuse it often. Remember, choosing to reuse helps our environment and our economy.
