Office of Occupational Safety & Health Statistics
Statistics on work-related injuries, illnesses and fatalities are produced annually for each industry in Delaware. In addition to the number of injury and illness cases, data is published providing demographic details on the more seriously injured and ill workers which includes occupation, age, gender, race, and length of service. Data is also recorded on the circumstances of their injuries and illnesses (nature of the disabling condition, part of body affected, event or exposure, and primary source producing the disability). "More seriously" is defined in the survey as involving days away from work.
From this data, employers may be able to evaluate their company's safety programs and institute measures to make the workplace safer.

The purpose of the Act is to provide a program to assure compensation for work-related injuries, without regard to fault, and to relieve both employers and employees of the expenses and uncertainties of civil litigation. Most petitions are scheduled to be heard within 120 days of filing. Decisions are rendered within 14 days of the hearing.
