Wilmington, DE - Over 600 entrepreneurs
and investors participated in the 3rd annual Early
Stage East Fair, a venture capital showcase that is
considered one of the single best resources to find
emerging technology companies and the capital
needed to get new tech products off the ground on
Tuesday. At the end of the day, four companies
received special recognition:
- Money Hunt winner - UWapIT.com, based
in Alexandria, VA, was selected to appear on
Money Hunt, a national PBS television show.
"This national exposure has helped to fund
several start-up companies, and is an excellent
indicator that the venture capital and
E-commerce industry expect great things from
UWapIT.com," said David Freschman, founder of
the Early Stage East showcase. Using UwapIT
technology, client companies can go to the
www.uwapit.com web site and select applications
to enable an entire workforce to email, fax,
alter inventory and other programs through
web-enabled wireless devices such as two-way
pagers and cell phones that have instant
delivery capabilities. According to UWapIT.com
literature, "the final result [is]
businesses have 24/7 global access to the
world's most important data - their own."
- Most Likely to Receive Venture Funding -
Airput.com, Inc. of Norristown, PA competed
against 32 other companies during the Early
Stage East presentation process. A panel of
five judges representing five states selected
Airput.com as the best presentation, or company
most likely to receive venture funding.
Airput.com products include AirHours(tm), an
application that allows field-based managers in
the construction and service industries to enter
time-critical information into corporate
computer systems using web-enabled wireless
phones.
"Internet access is no longer limited to the
PC and investors are embracing the latest
web-enabled mobile phones and other technologies
that do not limit information access to the
desktop," Freschman said of UWapIT.com and
Airput.com, the two top award winners at Early
Stage East.
- The Best Exhibitor - Lighthammer Software
Development Corporation, an Exton, PA based
software-development company. While 32
companies were selected to make 5-7 minute
presentations, all 50 companies were selected to
showcase their products at exhibits staged
throughout the DuPont Country Club in
Wilmington, DE. Lighthammer develops and
markets, Illuminator(tm), the world's 1st
Plant Information Portal(tm), a universal
web-based interface for the manufacturing
automation market.
- The People's Choice Award - selected
by their peers as well as potential investors,
IPGDirect.com of Pennington, NJ, owns and
operates B2B web sites for niche markets such as
Commercial Real Estate Direct and Asian Assets
Direct.
Early Stage East, the East Coast's premiere
venture capital showcase, had record attendance at
this, its third annual event. Organizers have
stated that next year's event will need to move to
a larger facility to accommodate the tremendous
growth and interest in the conference. In addition
to the East Coast companies, Early Stage East went
global this year as five companies from Israel and
a company from Ireland participated in the
conference. In addition to looking for venture
funding, these companies were also interested in
establishing facilities in the U.S.
