New Web Site Provides Businesses With Easy Access To Delaware Economic Development Resources

DOVER, DEL. -- The Delaware Economic Development Office (DEDO) has revamped its web site, www.state.de.us/dedo, to better serve Delaware businesses as well as companies that are looking to locate to the state.

In addition to a new design, the site offers easier access to information on financial assistance options, tax breaks, training grants, and other incentives to assist Delaware business. Demographic, labor, and cost of living information can be accessed via the expanded on-line Data Center.

John D. Wik, Director of DEDO, says, "The on-line availability of Delaware economic development resources allows businesses to gain immediate access to the information they need. This is part of an ongoing effort to streamline our processes so that we are best able to serve the needs of our corporations and small businesses."

Businesses looking to expand or relocate to Delaware can now use the site to research available industrial, commercial, and office space. Existing businesses can find resources for locating a qualified workforce as well as obtain updated information on employer-related topics such as the Worker’s Compensation Law and unemployment insurance. A new Global Business Initiative section serves as a resource to Delaware companies interested in international trade and foreign businesses seeking to enter the American marketplace.

Small business owners can use the site to link to organizations offering them free resources including consultation, demographic profiles, assistance with feasibility studies, and reference materials. Those interested in starting a business will find helpful tips on how to get up and running.

For Delaware companies interested in doing business with the state, a State Contracting section provides access to current requests for proposals and invitations to bid submitted by state agencies. A link to the Delaware Tourism Office and the Delaware Film Office web site can also be accessed through the DEDO site.

The site was developed entirely by DEDO staff.
