Downtown Delaware Presents Prestigious Awards
Awards luncheon honors extraordinary volunteers and partners.
DOVER, Del. (May 12, 2009) – Downtown Delaware, a resource center within the Delaware Economic Development Office, held an awards luncheon Monday to honor Delaware’s “Main Street Champions.” Tom McCarthy, DEDO Deputy Director, and Linda Parkowski, Director of Tourism, joined Diane Laird, Downtown Delaware’s State Coordinator in recognizing 14 downtown volunteers and partners from across the state who have gone the extra mile in supporting downtown revitalization efforts in Delaware.
“The Main Street Program is an economic development tool that encourages entrepreneurial opportunity in downtowns across the state,” said Diane Laird, Downtown Delaware’s State Coordinator. “Today we are pleased to celebrate the accomplishments of those who exemplify superior volunteer commitment and partnership with Delaware’s revitalization organizations.”
The awards were presented to individuals who best embodied Downtown Delaware’s mission of providing Delaware’s historic downtowns, communities, and small businesses with tools to revitalize their commercial districts, increase entrepreneurism and innovation, and enhance quality of place. This year’s recipients include:
