(DOVER, DEL.) Governor Ruth Ann Minner has announced a new brand marketing campaign to promote Delaware as a premier location for business development and leisure travel. The brand, which includes the moniker "Delaware: It's Good Being First," builds on Delaware's historical heritage as the first state to ratify the U.S. constitution. Governor Minner said, "Delaware needs to meet the competition of other states to enhance our business base and attract regional visitors and their dollars. The state has much to offer both audiences, and the brand advertising campaign will help deliver this message." The brand positioning builds on "First" with the brand promise to businesses and tourists that they come first with The First State. John Wik, Director for the Delaware Economic Development Office (DEDO), said, "In a time when competition for market share is at its highest, it is imperative that Delaware aggressively promote its offerings as a global hub for business and a high-value destination for tourism." Wilmington-based marketing and communications agency Reese, Tomases & Ellick was charged with creation of the brand, which included market research and production of print and television advertisements. Total cost of the new brand was $250,000. DEDO has designated $350,000 for the initial tourism launch. Business development advertising will be supported by DEDO funds appropriated to promote and market Delaware. DEDO will leverage this amount through partnerships with the public and private sectors. DEDO is charged with retaining, growing, and attracting Delaware businesses and enhancing the quality of life of Delaware residents. DEDO divisions include Business Development, The Delaware Tourism Office, Business Research, Finance, Workforce Development, and Global Trade. BRAND IMAGERY AVAILABLE ### |
